K-Pop Group of the Week: Tomorrow X Together

 

Hello everyone, this week's group is Tomorrow X Together or TXT. This is a 5 member group that debuted on March 4th, 2019. They are under the label Big Hit which is a subsidiary of Hybe Entertainment as of March 2021, but it was originally an independent label. This group is also the group that I saw in DC in June. The group consists of Soobin (Leader), Yeonjun (Oldest), Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huening Kai (Maknae and Kai for short). Today we will be talking a little bit about the group and each member and at the end, per the usual we will go over their Discography at the end of the post. 

As previously mentioned, I saw them in tour on June 8th of this year and it was a phenomenal show and, honestly, I wish I could go back in time to see the concert again. TXT recently completed the United States leg of their Act: Promise Tour and they are currently completing the Asian leg of the tour. TXT tours frequently they have had 3 world tours, two festivals and they are usually touring for almost a year with trips back to South Korea for comebacks and end of the year award shows and festivals. Their tour, Act: Lovesick also had a documentary on Disney+ that also include their time at Lollapalooza in 2022. I would highly recommend watching it if this group peaks your interest, I will warn you though, it is a very emotional documentary and I did cry a bit during it, seeing everything that they had to go through at that time.

TXT have also had 3 showcases and 4 fanmeetings. TXT also has an impressive reward history, they have won 42 awards during their career so far and have been nominated 132 times. 

Now that we have talked a bit about the group and their career so far, I would like to now talk about the members themselves starting with our oldest Yeonjun.

Yeonjun:

• Trainee Period: 5 years and was originally a CUBE entertainment trainee

• Yeonjun lived in the United States for about 2 years and speaks English very well
• Yeonjun's representative flower is a tulip

Yeonjun is the oldest member of the group but he really is only a 4 months older than Soobin. Yeonjun tends to be one of the more open members when it comes to his health and mental health, as recently as last year, he released a vlog that showed that he had been in the hospital for a couple of days because he was sick with how busy he was last year, because, with all of the promotions they did, as they released three albums last year, he also has like 5 or 6 solo performances to practice for. He explained that he would sometimes be practicing for like 12 hours a day and his body just shut down when he was hospitalized. He is probably the most gentle member and has the most supportive personality in the group and really is like a mom to the group. He seems to be the closest to Soobin and more recently Beomgyu. He loves supporting MOA in their endeavors that they tell him about during his lives and he tends to give a lot of good advice that I feel comes from things he has personally experienced as an idol. He tends to eat a lot and messes around with the other members a lot and likes to pretend that he is the maknae instead of the oldest. Yeonjun was the MC on Inkigayo (South Korean Music Show) from April 2022-April 2024. He is known to pout a lot and is one of the more competitive members. He really enjoys dancing and can sometimes be seen as the main dancer even though he doesn't actually have a position in the group. 

Soobin

• Place of Birth: Sangnok–gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi–do, South Korea
• Date of Birth: December 5, 2000

• English Name: Steve Choi
• Position in Group (Leader, this is the only designated position in the group)                 
• Trainee Period: 3 years
• Height: 6'1"

• Soobin had a hedgehog named Odi but Odi passed away July 2023 and this was a really tough time for him
• Soobin is the youngest in his family and he has an older sister and an older brother

Soobin is the leader of the group and this is the only set position in the group as the other's change with each comeback, besides visual which is Beomgyui. He has a more reserved personality overall but if he is comfortable he is quite the prankster and loves to mess around with the other members. One of the things he is known for is how fast and fluently he speaks Korean when he is angry. He seems to be the closest to Yeonjun and, also like Yeonjun, has been closest to Beomgyu as of late. Soobin and Yeonjun created their unit name of Yeonbin that their pairing is now known as. Soobin has an airy tone to his voice when he sings that is very distinguishable in their songs. He is very professional when they are making appearances at interviews and award shows and really does not like doing aegyo. Soobin was the MC for Music Bank (South Korean Music Show) from July 2020-October 2021.

Beomgyu

Beomgyu is Chaos out of all of the members he is the most chaotic member of the group. Beomgyu enjoys nothing more but to instigate chaos and he is also the loudest member of the group (even him and all of the members say the same thing). He would probably be considered the mood maker of the group, and despite his chaos, he is actually a very chill person. When watching his lives on Weverse, yes he has his chaotic moments, but overall he is really chill and likes to tell stories. He is also a bit of cinnamon roll and really is like a teddy bear as his emoticon dictates. He is the visual of the group and he can also speak English pretty well. Beomgyu has his own studio. He is also in a group chat with I.N. (Stray Kids), Heeseung (Enhypen) and Lim Jimin (Just B). He really enjoys performing and hardly ever cries at concerts of fanmeetings.  

Taehyun

Taehyun is our resident squirrel who thinks of himself as a cat, and he really does act like a cat sometimes. He is the more logical member of the group and he is very intelligent and he also speaks English. He sings very well and usually has the most high notes in their songs. Taehyun is left-handed. He really likes going to the gym and sometimes sleeps with his eyes open. He is very present minded and and been claimed to be the person in the group in charge of passion and you definitely see it when he is on stage. Taehyun has a very chill personality and is the one who always comes up with solutions to problems if his help is asked for and he, like Soobin, does not like doing aegyu but he has been more open and comfortable with it lately even though he still does not like it all that much. He and Kai have hosted a radio show called "Listen" and they hosted it from January 2021-May 2021. He recently released his fist collaboration that was also an OST that was released on June 5th, 2024. He and Kai are known as the Maknaez as they are the youngest members and were both born in 2002. 

Huening Kai

• Position in Group: Maknae

• Huening Kai lived in China for 7 years and knows some Chinese and moved to South Korea when he was 8

Ah Kai, we have now reached our final and youngest member, Huening Kai. Kai is probably the funniest member and he never lets his Hyungs forget that he is the Maknae, Kai is the epitome of a younger brother to the other members even though he is only a few months younger than Taehyun. Kai is Korean and German and is the first foreigner to debut under Big Hit Entertainment. He hosted the radio show "Listen" with Taehyun from January 2021-May 2021. Kai is also a more logical thinker like Taehyun is and he acts more like the mediator of the group, even though he does instigate sometimes and helps Beomgyu cause chaos and he loves acting cute. Kai, along with Yeonjun, are usually the members who speak the most for the group when they attend English events, even though the other members do know English just not as well as Kai and Yeonjun. The other members love to tease him about living in China for so long and not really knowing a lot of Mandarin. Kai is sometimes babied by the members and he loves plushies.

This now concludes the summaries of the members and their personalities. TXT is a really fun group to get into if you ever want to get in K-Pop. I know I may have said something like that about all of the other groups as well but I mean it a little more for TXT, their whole concept is fun and youth and most of their music is easy listening as opposed to the other groups I have spoken about previously.
